The Indian Health

We are all worried about health aren't we? When we are little our parents make us eat this and that (usually the yuck stuff viz. the salads, the veges, the fruits) and we are like oh we want chocolates, ice creams, pizzas, and yes burgers!! We think we are thin so why would we eat all that crap veges. Hard luck! And then comes the time when we get that cute looking round extra thing jutting out from the belly and we panic!!!! But after a look at our fat friends we think I am not that fat.... It'll go away.

Slowly and gradually that cute little round thing grows and with it we see fat in other parts of our body as well. We don't fit in our churidars, our shirts won't button up and yes those jeans... how will we ever fit in them? This time the panic sets in for real and we rush to the internet to find ways to redeem ourselves. We start reading blogs, articles, write up anything with a hope that they will help us and what do we find there? Loads and loads of crap. Most websites offer to sell costly health drinks that are yuck to taste. Crash diets are another thing we do not want to follow. Eating only fruits for an entire week won't help us lose weight. It will only add to our health problems.  And do we wanna go for a jog? Nah! We lazy people won't even go for a gym session everyday. We pay them well and then stop going after a few days. the health blogs, and website do have good diet plans but they are definitely not good for Indians. Where will we ever find those foods? Have you ever heard of fennel? friends its only 'Jeera'. Funny isn't it? So, in frustration we stop doing everything and let the wrath of time devour us and turn us into those fat not ugly not hot but only cute teddy bears.

Well my friends you have nothing to worry about. I here have sought out a really good food habit. Yes I say food habit and not diet because the food I will mention here is just the everyday food and nothing else. We eat everyday don't we? But due to our everyday hectic routine it becomes impossible for us to eat the right quantity at the write time. We just gotta do that. And yes water. Drink it everyday and t
least 4 to 5 times a day.

So here's the plan.... It does not really matter when we wake up. Star this plan half an hour after you wake up. (Eg:- If you wake up and 10 a.m., start eating at 10:30 a.m. If you wake up at 6 a.m., start eating at 6:30 a.m.) But we gotta follow a routine. We cannot be irregular. Eat breakfast everyday. Don't miss it. It is my earnest request friends.

Believe me following this I have lost 4kgs in just 21 days.

Here goes:
(I am mentioning my time but you gotta eat just according to your own)
(But the duration of gap between two meals should be the same)

6:30 a.m.:- Two to three cream cracker biscuits + (Optional) a cup of tea without sugar. You may add sugar free and the tea should be without milk.
(Gap:- 2:30 hrs )

9:00 a.m.:- Two almonds

(Gap:- 2hrs)

11:00 a.m.:- 1/4th cup(150 gms) Flattened rice (chivda) or cornflakes with 1/2 cup curd.

(Gap:- 2hrs)

1:00 p.m. :- 1 cup rice, 1 cup vegetables, 1 cup dal, 70 gms chicken or fish.

(Gap :- 2hrs)

3:00pm:- 1 fruit viz. Apple, Guava, Mousambi

(Gap:- 2hrs)

5:00 pm:- 1 cup muti with cucumber, tomato, onion salad. No chanachur or oil.

(Gap:- 2hrs)

7:00 pm:- Tea without milk and sugar with one cream cracker biscuit.

(Gap:- 3hrs)

10:00 pm:- 1 roti, 1 cup vegetables, 70 GMs of chicken or fish

Try this for at least a month and you are bound to get results!! Believe me I got it.

Welcome to the neighbourood drama - "Para Porshir Theatre"

Theatre as we know is the very heart and soul of India. Not only a mere source of entertainment, theatre has been vividly and extensively used to raise awareness against social causes. Alternaitive Living Theatre a.k.a. ALT has thus taken the initiative to bring to you a 5 day National Drama Festival- "Para porsir Theatre" from 1st to 5th November. The ceremony was inauguarated by Minister Bratya Basu in the presence of Mr. Rathin Ghosh, MLA(Madhyamgram, North) and Sangit Natya Akademi winner Mr. Probir Guha and his team ALT.

Expressing his views on theatre Minister Bratya Basu said, "Art and culture cannot thrive if it is not encouraged rather it tends to annihilate if not taken care. If the history of India and the world can be churned, it can be seen that starting from Kalidas toTansen or Shakespeare all had patrons who supported them. So with a very humble heart I would like to say that the local authorities should stand beside and encourage the people in our society who are related to drama, different genres of drama practise, and drama revolutions."

It is wonderful to say that this drama festival is being organised by Alternative Living Theatre for the third year. In 2013 the drama festival started for the very first time holding the hands of Sangit Natya Academy winner Mr. Probir Guha, after which it had been arranged in 2015 and then this year 2017.

Mr. Subhadeep Guha one of the primemembers of ALT and award winning music artist said,"The concept of the festival is to build the bridge of friendliness and highlight different form of theatre practices
 across the globe."

The festival started off by the melodious voice of Ms. Kakali Das and Recitations of Atanu Barman.

The first play of the festival, “Bapu”, a play from Bihar, directed by Sangit Natya Akademi Winner Parvez Akhtar was presented on the prestigious stage of Nazrul Sadan Madhyamgram.

Theatre troupes from various regions like Bihar, Kolkata, Madhyamgram will be presented in the festival. Not only that a group from Bangladesh will stage their play in the schedule of 5 days drama festival.
ALT organises many such theatre all round the year. But "Para Porshir Theatre" is their grandest theatre festival as the word "Para" means neighbourhood ad ALT is trying to unite our neighbourhood through the festival. This is according to Mr. Subhadeep Guha.

On 5th November for the first time “Titas Ekti Nodir Naam” adopted from Mr. Adwaita Mallabarman, will be played by the members of ALT, on the stage from the eye of the director of the drama Mr. Probir Guha.

Thus, to enjoy and learn the approaches of the dramas from different places, please do come to Madhyamgram Nazrul Sadan at 6:00 pm from 1st to 5th November, after all it's a festival by our Neighbours.

Ceremonial Inauguration of Ms. Taken

Be it the puja or any other time, Bengali women do not forget to pamper themselves. Durga puja to Kali puja is the only time when they try to transform themselves to utmost beauties. As time goes by it can be seen that there are some changes in the dressing patterns of the Bengalis and the western wind has touched them which can be seen in their dresses. Bollywood star Kriti Sanon's outlet 'Ms.Taken' has come up with all such western collection at Shoppers Stop. Keeping in mind the upcoming festivities in Bengal this brand has debuted its outlet in Kolkata. Besides Kriti Sanon, the establishment's chief Shri Gopal Asthana was also present.

Indigenous Fashion from the waste

From Left - John Sengupta and Sharbari Dutta
"Bajlo tomar alor benu" -- This song marks the arrival of Devi Durga. It marks the cleasining of all that is waste and signifies the start of something new. This is the sole concept that Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) has taken up in their Pre-puja collection "ABAHON 2017". Just as mother Durga transforms all waste into wonderous forms, the students of INIFD has ressurected all waste easilu found around us into beautiful and breathtaking attires that does not fail to mesmerize us. Instead of using expensive materials to produce a rich range of clothing, the students of the fashion Design Department from INIFD has transformed the ordinary things in an elegant way that has the audience stupified. The icing on the cake was the presence of the eminent designer Sarbori Dutta who charmed the event with her presence. Being a humble person, Sarbori Dutta does not fail to indulge the students with her views as she pointed out ways for the students to improve in their own fields.

The collection shows the hard work that the students have put up for the show. Every project needs to be researched throughly and the way the students have designed their cloths, it can be said that their cloths speak for themselves. Their 'AGOMONI' collection is synonymous to the characteristics of the Adi Shakti as it signifies the inner strength of the women. The age old 'Lal Paar Shaada saree' has been portraed n a new form taing inspiration from every aspect of the Bengali life starting from the Taal patar pakha (Pam leaf hand fans). Decorated with 'frills, ruffels and motiys' the Bengali tradition has been well depictyed through these saaris. These saaris lived well upto their intentions of keeping the Bengali tradition alive and they serve as a reminder to modern day people who seems to have forgotten them.
Fashion Show

INIFD's next category 'Best out of the Waste' has been themed around the Phoenix, a mythical bird that takes birth from its own ashes. Phoenix is examplary to the fact that what we regard as waste can actually be beautiful and not something to throw away.  Students of this institute have proved that waste if treated properly, artistically and creatively can look beautiful. Thrown away packets of chips, thermocol plate and bowls, plastic waste bags, deflated balloons have never been made to look so enchanting. Through this category the students of INIFD have explored their creative side and expressed their thoughts just as a painter does with is tools on the canvas.

INIFD's next category Knit-Knots has taken our outlook on the simple day to day worn T-shirts to a whole new level. Daily wear boring T-shirts have been restructured to look trendy. This unimaginable fact is what the students have achieved, they have conquered the unconquerable. T-shirts have been made into a cape and sometimes a funky shrug, the sleeves have been given various cuts that make them look like expensive clothing but with a chick and ober look.

Sometimes we wonder what to do with all our old clothes. Every piece of clothing has a story and an emotional attachment. We neither want to throw them nor do we want to keep them. The students of INIFD comes to our rescue. Through their next category 'Metamorphosis' they revived the old clothes and revamp the wardrobe. Through unique combination of clothinh and style they show us how we can reuse our old cloths and look fashionable.
Fashion Show
Feminine grace is best emphasised with a saree and festivals in Bengal are incomplete withot them. Be it any occation or festivities all a woman wants is a saree. So, the students of INIFD has redefined sarees in their own unique way to make it popular among the youth by giving them a designer's touch and draping it in different styles to make it popular among the youth.

Magnamious designer Sharbari Dutta was impressed with the efforts of the students of INIFD. To her fashion is an way of expression by a designer just like a painter or a singer. Fashion designers do not only make clothes for the rich but it is the sole work of a designer to introduce a trend so that it can be worn by all people in general. Fashion designers should work towards growing the economy through their works. She takes her inspirations from various indigenous cultures of India and the Indian mythology. She intoduced coloured Dhotis taking inspiration from Lord Krishna who wore a yellow dhoti and is thus called Pitambar. Sharbari Dutta encouraged the students to keep up their work and experiment.
